About Charles Stewart

Charles started fishing at the age of five, catching small Kurper (Bream) with his dad. He started Bass Fishing at a young age and bought his first fly rod at 16.  He initially Fly Fished for Bass and in his student days, this was expanded to Trout.  After completing his studies, Trout Fly fishing escalated and he also started Rock and Surf Fishing. He Fly Fished many venues in the Transvaal and Natal with most Rock and Surf Fishing taking place on the South Coast at Port Edward where he eventually bought a house.  He started exploring the Transkei Coast and many trips followed to places like Bashee River Mouth, Mazeppa Bay, Port St Johns, Dwesa, Mzikaba, and Mtentu. He published a book, Rock and Surf Fishing – Charles Stewart – in 1994 by which time he was also getting involved in some offshore fishing after selling his pharmacy in 1997.  He opened a tackle store “Angling Africa” and became even more involved.  He did regular Fly Casting Clinics as well as weekend clinics and Corporate Flyfishing weekends.  Over the years he had some 800 anglers attending his casting clinics.  He also continued his Rock and Surf Fishing, specializing in artificials and live bait fishing. He still enjoys all types of Flyfishing, Rock and Surf, and Offshore Live Baiting, Jigging, and Popping.  Having a very broad fishing passion, he has been blessed to have fished all over the world and some of the destinations that come to mind are St Lazarus Banks, Zambezi River, Nigeria, Inhaca, Tanzania, Sodwana, Cape Vidal, Gabon, Cuba, South Carolina, Alaska, Georgia, Namibia, Transkei, Bazaruto, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.
