Tarpon

Tarpon

Tarpon are wild animals.

In Africa, Angola is our closest hotspot, although there are very many other West African coastlines that sport these monsters.

Recently, the Fishing Pro Shops Johan Wessels flew across the entire globe to Nicaragua, where he encountered some big fish of over 100lbs and more. Johan caught them on all sorts of tackle and lures, and is standing by to answer any questions you have about finding and catching these fish.

Sidenote: we do get the formidable oxe-eye tarpon on our eastern seaboard too. These fish live way upstream, and journey down to the estuaries to spawn in the salt at the end of each wet season. They are a lot smaller, but no less as angered when confronted. The ox-eye is a sought and after and highly-respected gamefish, worldwide. Click on this link to see one being caught down in KZN Natal, in the Umzimkulu Estuary, Port Shepstone.
