Shimano Baitrunner DL, new from 2015 have upgraded internal components and subtle ‘carpy’ cosmetics. With an incredibly smooth rear drag, the Shimano Baitrunner free spool mechanism has a wide range of tension settings from virtually zero resistance for predator work to almost locked up for snag fishing situations or when really big carp are encountered.
This model is most popular with bank anglers targeting carp. Generally spooled with a thin monofilament line of about 8lb or thinner.
The quick-change spools are very popular with competition anglers.

This reel should not be used in the SALT but could be used in estuaries for fish like Grunter where the free-spool system will be priceless.

 

These superb value for money baitrunners have also become a firm favourite for species ranging from mudfish all the way to the fierce tigerfish!
