Shimano Curado 150DC XG
The Shimano Curado 150 DC has been built on a legacy of durability, dependability, and versatility that Curado is known for, but now with Shimano’s unique DC braking technology.
We have two models available here in South Africa. Two different gear ratios to be exact. The standard DC with a gear ratio of 6.2:1 and the Shimano Curado 150 DC XG with a gear ratio of 8.5:1.
The 6.2.1 will be ideal for big crankbaits and spinnerbaits with 8.5:1 being better suited to worming, pitching frogging, and finesse techniques.
The Shimano’s new Digital Control braking system utilizes a microcomputer to monitor spool speed 1,000 times per second and apply the perfect amount of brake to prevent backlash and maximize distance.
Anglers of all skill levels will appreciate less thumbing and trouble-free casting in all conditions.
If this fancy tech is not enough the reel also comes standard with these features:
- CI4+ Body
- Cross Carbon Drag
- Hagane Body
- Micro Module Gear
- 6+1 S ARB Bearings
- X-Ship Gearing
- 8.5:1 Gear ratio

At first, I was skeptical about microchips in a fishing reel until I fished with a friend. He had two identical set-ups with Duckett Cranking rods, one with a Metanium and the other with a Metanium DC. Not to miss an opportunity I proceeded to tie on two identical Azuma Jerkbaits and hurled both into the wind… The difference in distance was astounding!
I can see how the Shimano Curado 150DC XG will make a big difference when casting light or big wind resistance lures into the wind. This will aid greatly in covering water in search of roaming bass.
