Description

Shimano SLX 150 XG

The Shimano SLX 150 XG is a compact, rigid and versatile reel. With two gear ratios to choose from in South Africa the SLX offers tournament like performance to anglers at a price that won’t break the bank.

Packed with features previously only available on more premium models like:

  • Hagane Body
  • SVS
  • S3D Spool
  • Super Free Spool
  • Gear ration of 8.2:1
  • Max drag of 11lb
  • Line capacity 90 meters of 12lb monofilament or fluorocarbon

Before VBS, all baitcasting reels relied on a system of magnets to help prevent backlashes. But, by design, a magnetic system shortens casting distance because their is a constant pressure on the spool for the duration of the cast… With VBS, centrifugal force works to create friction and prevent the spool from over-running.

Please pop in so that we can show you how to set your VBS up perfectly.

The 8.2:1 gear ratio is the fastest of the SLX range and not the ideal model for fishing big drag lures like spinnerbaits and cranks. But if pitching, weightless or top water frogging is the game then this the reel for you.

Divan suggests anything from 8lb mono to 50lb braid for this little beauty.

We believe that the Shimano SLX 150 XG sets the new level for all other baitcasting reels as far as value and performance goes. Pair your SLX up with one of the technique specific matching rods, correct main line and you will be good to target any bass that swims in our dams or river…

We carry the complete range of matching rods.
