Description
Shimano Tyrnos 16
The Shimano Tyrnos 16 might just be the ultimate fishing reel for over here in Southern African waters. It’s tough and durable. Very capable. Looks space-age. And doesn’t break the bank!
It’s versatility might be the biggest attraction for you. Fill it with light line for backline fun. Or throw a decent 100 metres of top line in the 50lb class and take on anything you please. The Tyrnos 16 holds 520 yards of 20 lb mono line, and has a maximum drag of 15kgs. She weighs in at a paltry 819g. Has graphite side-plates with aluminium braces. Power handle. 4 A-RB ball bearings and a 5.0:1 retrieve ratio at 89cm per crank. A powerhouse of a reel.
It is a consummately perfect trolling reel. Yet it’s lightweight spoon will cast a decently weighted bait just fine. And for jigging, the open-top design gives you full access to the spool and line too. And it’s a live-baiting dream with endless drag range.
Versatility!
If you pair this reel with a 6 or 7 foot boat rod, it can be used for all of the above-mentioned fishing activities.
The Shimano Tyrnos 16 is rugged enough to take on your ski or kayak. Basic maintenance measures, including the seasonal strip-down, re-grease and re-oil, and this reel too, is for life. Just by the way, she comes with a 10-year guarantee. Wish all girls came with that!
